Maukallaqta tour
We will discover together the fascinating origin of the Incas by touring Maukallaqta. For this adventure, our guide will pick you up at 8:00 a.m. at your hotel, starting our trip to Mollebamba, in the province of Paruro. This trip will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once there, you will receive directions before starting a 40-minute walk to the impressive archaeological complex of Maukallaqta.
This complex covers more than 2 kilometers in length and stands out for its architectural design, divided into three sectors: Chaupillacta or middle village; Patanllacta or upper village; and Maukallaqta. During the tour, we will explore ceremonial constructions, irrigation canals, plazas and temples. One of the most outstanding elements of this place is the double jamb lintel door with triple jamb niches, an architectural jewel.
Maukallaqta is surrounded by one of the most iconic legends about the origin of the Incas. Near the Tampu Tocco Hill, the tradition tells that the Ayar Brothers, sons of the Sun, left with their wives from this place to look for fertile lands to settle down.
At the end of our visit to Maukallaqta, we will go to Pumaorqo, where we will enjoy a delicious traditional lunch prepared by a family of the community. After lunch, we will return to our vehicle to return to the city of Cusco, arriving at your hotel at approximately 5:00 pm.
