TRAVEL ITINERARY
Sacred Valley of the Incas
The tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas begins between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m., heading northeast of Cusco. The first stop will be at Chinchero, a picturesque village that stands out for its rich textile heritage. We will visit a Textile Interpretation Center where we will learn about the techniques and tools used in the elaboration of traditional garments. In addition, we will tour the ancient palace of Tupac Yupanqui, an impressive example of the fusion between Inca and colonial architecture, as well as observe the Inca agricultural terraces. The next destination will be Moray, known as the agricultural laboratory of the Incas. This archaeological site stands out for its three circular amphitheater-shaped terrace structures, designed with irrigation canals and unique microclimates that allowed the cultivation of various types of plants and grains.
Then we will visit the Maras Salt Mines, an area composed of approximately 3,000 natural salt wells fed by a subway spring. These salt mines, whose history dates back to pre-Inca times, produce a salt recognized worldwide for its beneficial health properties, thanks to its low sodium chloride content. At noon, we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at the Inka Casona Don Angelrestaurant , in Urubamba. We will continue the tour to Ollantaytambo, a majestic fortress that was an important military, religious and agricultural center. Here we will be able to appreciate monoliths that were part of a Temple of the Sun that was left unfinished.
The last stop will be at the Archaeological Park of Pisac, located on the heights of the city of the same name. This site covers an area of 4 square kilometers and includes terraces, aqueducts, water channels, cemeteries and other archaeological remains that reflect the greatness of Inca engineering. At the end of this fascinating tour, we will return to the city of Cusco approximately between 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
